November 2021
We have been working on building our learning skills and habits as we adjust to in-class face to face school again. A focus has been placed on completed consistent daily tasks, specifically in writing and reading (French and English).
All of our class tasks are posted on Google Classroom. We have been working using this learning system so that we are prepared for any potential remote learning situation. In the event that this should occur again this year, students should be comfortable to check into Google Classroom and access any class information.
For reading, we have been using the sites: Infos-Jeunes in French and ReadWorks in English. Students have a username and password for both of these sites. We have also been practicing our daily writing habits with regular open response questions posted.
In the coming weeks we will be focusing on The importance of Treaty Recognition Week and Remembrance Day in History/Social Studies, including completing one submission for the Legion’s Poster/Essay Contest (due Nov. 8th).
In Science, we have been studying Biodiversity in Ecosystems/Biomes in Grade 6 and 7 and Cells and Cell Theory in Grade 8. Students will be finishing up a culminating project in class during the first week of November.
Students have been busy with Number Sense in Math working with Mrs. Martin and Miss Cowell and are now moving onto working with Geometry and Geometric Reasoning.
With Progress Reports quickly approaching, I hope to send out a brief update of your student’s recent progress from the last week or two. I have also been experiencing some issues with Connections via Google Classroom and hope to sort these out shortly.
Throughout October, we have been completing daily sketches for “Inktober” you can view some student posted sketches here:
